Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support physicians during complex GI and interventional procedures. You will prepare procedural suites, assist during procedures, and maintain equipment and supplies.

The role also involves direct patient care in admitting and recovery, along with processing specimens and ensuring smooth workflow under the supervision of the GI Unit team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred in Biological/medical field.
• Certificate 1 preferred: Medical Assistant Certificate.
• 1-3 years related work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to operate technical/electronic equipment with accuracy.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills under stress.

Responsibilities

• Prepares procedural suites for general and interventional procedures and ensures efficient turnover.
• Processes pathology specimens according to established protocols.
• Performs preventive maintenance and decontamination of endoscopes and other equipment.
• Ensures all needed equipment and supplies are available for procedures.
• Provides direct patient care in admitting and recovery as directed by the resource nurse.
• All duties fall under Medical Assistant per certificate.
