MaiaSpace is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for the First Stage team in France to drive stage layout and hardware integration. You will model in SolidWorks, manage data in SolidWorks PDM, and optimize mass and cost of components for space vehicles.

The role demands hands-on mechanical design experience, strong collaboration across disciplines, and fluent communication in English and French with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree with 5+ years post-Baccalaureate.
• At least 3 years of experience in related field.
• Experience with CAD design using SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of metallic materials and manufacturing processes.
• English reading/writing technical docs and presenting orally.

• Contribute to stage layout and management of stage interfaces.
• Perform trade-offs to meet mass and cost targets for the First Stage.
• 3D CAD modelling of First Stage and PDM data management in SolidWorks.

First Stage Senior Design Engineer

We are looking for a senior mechanical designer to join our First Stage Team working on stage layout and design of equipment of the First Stage. You will contribute to overall design activities within the First Stage depending on priorities, but in particular you will be in charge of:

• Contributing to the overall definition and management of stage layout

• Contributing to the coherence of stage interfaces

• Performing trade-offs in order to identify best technical solutions to meet mass and cost targets

• Contributing to the 3D CAD modelling of First Stage and to the management of the definition in Solidworks PDM

• Proposing designs for hardware to be integrated on First Stage main structures: lines, harness, supports for lines & harness, equipment supports, secondary structures (such as covers, raceway, etc.), tank equipment, etc. taking into account the different constraints (technical requirements, cost, performance, lead time of parts to manufacture, integration, …)

• Exchanging with other MaiaSpace team members (from First Stage or other teams) in order to understand their constraints and their needs, and reaching best compromise with them as necessary

• Contacting and selecting suppliers

• Following parts manufacturing and accompanying methods and integration teams, in interaction with the industrialization team leader

• Contributing to anomaly treatment

Also, consistently with the Agile way of working, you may be asked to contribute more generally to mechanical design activities of the stage in collaboration with other members of the team, in particular its architect.

Job requirements

Specific competences & abilities:

• Team player, high communication skills, adaptability, open-mindedness, autonomy, motivation, dedication, rigorous, synthesis skills

• Prior demonstrated experience on mechanical architecture activities of vehicles (automotive, naval construction, aeronautics, space industry)

• Prior experience in CAD design with Solidworks

• Knowledge on bill-of-material management with Solidworks PDM or equivalent

• Knowledge on metallic material properties and manufacturing processes

• English level sufficient to read and write technical documentation, to perform oral technical presentation and to interact on technical topics

Qualification:

• Mechanical engineering degree (+5 years post-Baccalaureate) ideally specialized in structure design

• At least 3 years experience on the related field
