Job summary

MaiaSpace is seeking a Cryogenic First Stage tank Design Engineer to join the Cryogenic Stage Teams in Fontainebleau/La Défense area. You will design, model, and validate tank structures, while coordinating with propulsion, layout, and industrialization teams.

Strong SolidWorks and PDM skills, plus a mechanical background, are essential. Join a multidisciplinary team applying Agile methods, with exposure to space vehicle structures, manufacturing constraints, and supplier engagement.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree (+5 years post-Baccalaureate) ideally specialized in structure design.
• At least 3 years experience in the related field.
• Experience in mechanical architecture activities of vehicles (space/aviation/automotive) is preferred.

• Contribute to 3D CAD modelling of tank structures and deliver detailed design.

Cryogenic First Stage tank Design Engineer

We are looking for a mechanical designer to join one of our Cryogenic Stage Teams working on the tank structure. Our teams design, manufacture and test the cryogenic stages.

Broadly speaking, you will contribute to the tank design within the First Stage, inside the Tank and structure team. You will rely heavily on a general mechanical background and on facilitating and communication skills.

In more detail, you will:

• Propose designs in agreement with high level technical requirements defined for the structure
• Perform trade-offs in order to identify best technical solutions to meet mass and cost targets
• Contribute to the 3D CAD modelling of the different pressurized and non pressurized structures of the tank, deliver the corresponding detailed design
• Exchange with other teams in order to understand their constraints and their needs, and negotiate with them if necessary
• Contribute to the choice of final design, taking into account the different constraints (cost, performance, lead time of parts to manufacture, integration, ...)
• Compute functional cotation, taking into account low cost approach and simplification of manufacturing operations
• Contact different suppliers and perform the choice taking into account previous constraints
• Follow parts manufacturing and accompany methods and integration teams, in interaction with the industrialization team leader
• Manage tank interfaces with the stage in interaction with Propulsion, System and Lay-out First Stage team
• Contribute to the management of the definition in Solidworks PDM
• Communicate and help each other in a dynamic team
• Also, consistently with the Agile way of working, you may be asked to contribute more generally to mechanical design activities of the stage in collaboration with other members of the team, in particular its architect.

Specific competences & abilities:

• Team play, communication skills, adaptability, open-mindedness and abnegation
• Prior demonstrated experience on mechanical architecture activities of vehicles (automotive, naval construction, aeronautics, space industry)
• Prior experience in CAD design with Solidworks
• Knowledge on bill-of-material management with Solidworks PDM or equivalent
• Knowledge on metallic material properties and manufacturing processes
• English level sufficient to read and write technical documentation, to perform oral technical presentation and to interact on technical topics
