Tetra Pak is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Project Engineer for permanent, on-site work in Cholet, France. You will develop and deliver industrial plant layouts for powder processing projects, providing mechanical engineering expertise to ensure efficiency, compliance, and alignment with customer requirements.

The role supports technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the engineering team, with up to 10% travel and no relocation from abroad.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8–12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering and plant layout in food/process industries.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, plant engineering and layout integration.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD; other tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hygienic design and food safety requirements.

  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D plant layouts for industrial processing projects.
  • Define layout solutions based on process, equipment, piping, structural, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate layout reviews and support validation with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Identify design improvements, risks, and deviations; propose solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, hygienic design principles, and food safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with process, automation, project management, sourcing, and site execution teams.
  • Support customer discussions, installation activities, and technical issue resolution.
  • Coach and share knowledge to develop junior engineers.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering industrial plant layout solutions for powder processing projects. The role provides mechanical engineering expertise to ensure layouts are efficient, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with customer and project requirements. The position also supports technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Cholet, France (49), within Tetra Pak Processing Equipment SAS with 10 % of potential traveling. Please note that this position is not open to relocation from another country.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D plant layouts for industrial processing projects.
  • Define layout solutions based on process, equipment, piping, structural, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate layout reviews and support technical validation activities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify design improvements, technical risks, and project deviations, and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, engineering procedures, hygienic design principles, and food safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, automation, project management, sourcing, and site execution.
  • Support customer discussions, installation activities, and technical issue resolution when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the development of junior engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing.
We Believe You Have
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 8-12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering and industrial plant layout development within the food or process industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, plant engineering, and layout integration.
  • Experience with Autodesk tools, including Inventor and AutoCAD; knowledge of additional engineering and project tools is an advantage.
  • Understanding of food safety requirements, hygienic design principles, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an international and multicultural environment while maintaining a strong team-oriented approach.
  • Strong English communication skills for daily collaboration in an international environment.
  • French is considered a strong advantage.
