Alibaba seeks a commercial legal counsel to join the European legal team supporting AliExpress in Europe. The attorney will be based in Paris or Hangzhou and will report to General Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel, AliExpress.

The role focuses on advising on international expansion, commercial agreements, and platform compliance across Europe, with cross-border responsibilities and potential travel.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in an EU jurisdiction.
• 5–7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms and cross-border trade preferred.

Responsabilités

• Advise on legal aspects of the platform’s international expansion in Europe.
• Advise business teams on commercial agreements, business models, operations and product offerings.
• Respond to document requests from overseas regulators and law enforcement.
• Provide advice on platform compliance, cross-border logistics, customs and tariffs, and product listings.
• Research local laws in jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, commercial agreements, and policies.
• Develop in-house legal tools and conduct trainings for business units.
