ixolabs.ai is seeking a seasoned network engineer to create or assess complex network-design and troubleshooting cases, tracing issues from symptoms to the responsible layer. You will review routing, switching, firewall and WLAN behavior, using protocol and packet-level evidence when needed.

Qualifications

• At least two years in professional network engineering/administration, production routing/switching/firewalls, with depth in BGP, OSPF, VLAN or VPN behavior.
• Hands-on enterprise networks and WLAN controllers such as Meraki, Aruba or Cisco WLC, 802.1X/RADIUS and packet diagnosis with SPAN, tcpdump or Wireshark are required.
• The escalation route requires US or Canadian work eligibility and Pacific-time collaboration. Cloud-only SRE, architecture-only, SOC-only or helpdesk work does not substitute for current enterprise maintenance responsibility.

Work you will do

• Create or assess network-design and troubleshooting cases, tracing the problem from the observed symptoms to the responsible layer.
• Review routing, switching, firewall or WLAN behavior in the relevant track, using protocol and packet-level evidence where needed.
• Explain a defensible diagnosis or configuration change and identify advice that would destabilize a production network.

Required background and routes

• General network route: at least two years in professional network engineering/administration, production routing/switching/firewalls, and depth in BGP, OSPF, VLAN or VPN behavior.
• Enterprise escalation route: currently perform Tier/Level 3 or principal-support work with on-call incidents, root-cause analysis and final escalations. Hands-on enterprise networks and WLAN controllers such as Meraki, Aruba or Cisco WLC, 802.1X/RADIUS and packet diagnosis with SPAN, tcpdump or Wireshark are required.
• The escalation route requires US or Canadian work eligibility and Pacific-time collaboration. Cloud-only SRE, architecture-only, SOC-only or helpdesk work does not substitute for current enterprise maintenance responsibility.

Preferred background

• CCNA, JNCIA or CCNP; Ansible/Python network automation and networking on Azure, AWS or GCP for the general route.

Deliverables

Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.

Location and schedule

A regional track is open to residents of Canada, United States. Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 30-40, 10 hours per week depending on the track. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.

Pay and working terms

$85 $130/hr USD. The agreed hourly rate, scope, schedule and acceptance criteria are confirmed before work starts. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
