Mistral is seeking a senior backend/infrastructure leader to manage the Cloud Platform team responsible for secure, sandboxed AI environments. You will balance architecture work with people leadership from day one.

You will design isolation layers (microVMs/containers), own security boundaries, and scale fleets, while mentoring engineers to own end-to-end solutions. Requires 8+ years in backend or infra and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading engineers with hiring and feedback responsibilities.
• Deep Linux internals and virtualization experience.
• Shipped production Go systems; strong backend or infra background.
• Understanding of network isolation and secure multi-tenant design.
• Strong performance profiling and optimization mindset.
• 8+ years building backend or infrastructure systems.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product, design and business teams.
• Low-ego, team-first mindset and ability to coach others.

Responsabilités

• Build the isolation layer for AI environments using microVMs/containers.
• Own the security boundary and ensure safe execution of customer code.
• Scale fleets: manage creation latency and lifecycle of thousands of environments.
• Write Go and own architecture decisions for the platform.
• Grow engineers and set ownership standards across the team.
• Lead people management for the team: hiring, performance, growth.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate research into primitives.
