Norton Blake is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead / Engineering Manager to own a high‑priority embedded programme in a regulated environment, guiding delivery, certification, and quality.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team in Agile, manage risks and milestones, ensure traceability, and communicate status clearly to stakeholders while balancing hands‑on technical leadership with people management.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership experience in Agile engineering teams.
• Strong embedded software background with C/C++ proficiency.
• Experience delivering software/products in certified/regulatory contexts (payments, automotive, medical, aerospace or similar).
• Proven ability to lead complex, time-critical programmes with fixed delivery and certification deadlines.
• Excellent communication of delivery status, risks and decisions at all levels.

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead / Engineering Manager to take ownership of a high-priority embedded engineering programme within a regulated environment.

This is a leadership-focused role for someone who can guide an engineering team through a demanding delivery and certification roadmap, while remaining credible at a technical level. You will bring structure, pace and clear decision-making to a deadline-driven programme where quality, traceability and compliance are essential.

The role

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team working in an Agile delivery environment.
• Drive delivery across a critical embedded software certification programme, ensuring milestones, risks and dependencies are actively managed.
• Provide technical leadership across embedded software development, with a strong grounding in C/C++.
• Work closely with product, quality, compliance and senior stakeholder teams to maintain delivery momentum and certification readiness.
• Establish robust engineering practices around quality, documentation, testing and release governance.
• Remove blockers, manage technical risk and ensure the team remains focused on the highest-value delivery priorities.

Key experience required

• At least five years’ experience leading engineering teams in Agile environments.
• Strong embedded engineering background, particularly with C/C++.
• Experience delivering software or products within a certified or regulated environment, such as payments, automotive, medical devices, aerospace or a comparable sector.
• Proven ability to lead complex, time-critical programmes with fixed delivery and certification deadlines.
• Confident stakeholder manager, able to communicate delivery status, risks and decisions clearly at all levels.
• Comfortable balancing hands-on technical understanding with people leadership and programme delivery.
