2H Offshore Group in Paris is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern for a 6-month fixed-term contract to support the development of a mooring integrity detection tool using measured vessel motion data.

The role requires strong analytical skills, exposure to OrcaFlex, Orcawave, and Ariane, and fluent English and French. Training will be provided, and the candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on offshore renewables and oil & gas projects.

Both market sectors require similar engineering skill sets, and our breadth of experience in offshore structures and environments allows us to provide expertise at all stages of a project: feasibility and concept design, detailed design, procurement management, fabrication support, installation support, monitoring, integrity management, asset life extension and decommissioning.2H Offshore are seeking an Engineering Intern on a full time, 6 month fixed term contract basis. Based at our facility in Paris, we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Engineer student with an aptitude for analytical work for its development in the Oil & Energy Sector.This project aims to develop a tool capable of detecting mooring line failures in offshore floating systems using measured vessel motion data. The methodology will analyse relationships between low-frequency vessel motions, including surge, sway, roll, and yaw, and identify characteristic patterns that represent the healthy behaviour of the mooring system. By continuously monitoring the evolution of these patterns and motion correlations, the tool will seek to detect abnormal changes that may indicate a loss of mooring integrity.•The project will combine real vessel motion measurements with numerical simulations.•Historical motion records from operating floating structures will be used to characterise the intact system and establish a reference baseline.•Calibrated numerical models, developed in OrcaFlex (Orcina) or Ariane (BV) , will then be used to simulate mooring line failures and other representative degradation scenarios.•Data analysis and machine learning techniques may be explored to enhance the detection capability.•The performance of the proposed tool will be assessed using independent validation datasets and evaluated through metrics such as accuracy, false negative rate, and false positive rate.The successful candidate will perform design activities including calculations, dynamic structural analysis, and system configurations.
