  • Competent trainer capable of delivering in-house EHS training.

Role Purpose:

This EHS Cluster Advisor role will be responsible for identifying local health and safety legal requirements and developing robust health and safety mitigation controls, policies, procedures and guidance in accordance with the C&W EMEA EHS strategy and local legislation.

The role will work across all departments and therefore stakeholder engagement skills will be critical to the candidate’s success, and the candidate must have demonstrable experience in delivering EHS initiatives in a fast paced commercial environment.

Critical relationships will include those with local business leaders including:

  • Local Country Heads
  • Local facilities management and office management teams
  • Local HR resources
  • Local service line leadership
  • Local third-party consulting companies / Local third-party consultants

As a minimum the candidate will therefore require a proven track record in health and safety management preferably in a cross-border role although this is not essential. The successful candidate will lead and champion local EHS initiatives across cluster countries and in relation to the personal health and safety of Cushman & Wakefield employees. The candidate will need to have proven experience in developing and implementing initiatives to improve EHS compliance and awareness and will be responsible for;

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing, implementing and delivering procedures for the management of health and safety.
  • Monitoring and reporting on EHS performance and progress against EHS objectives to local and leadership teams. Routinely presenting at corporate meetings and steering groups to increase EHS awareness and engagement.
  • Managing and developing appropriate training programmes, methods of delivery and evaluation of effectiveness to ensure employees are competent regarding their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Delivering local training programmes where necessary in accordance with local legislation.
  • Liaising with, supporting and managing local EHS consultants.
  • Receiving an interpreting guidance, advice and recommendations delivered by local consultants.
  • Developing appropriate arrangements to ensure that risks from contractors and third-party suppliers are vetted, managed and effectively controlled.
  • Providing support and technical advice to senior operational managers (including country heads) to enable them to undertake their roles and responsibilities for health, safety and the environment within their areas of the business.
  • Monitoring changes in legislation and best practice locally to ensure continuing legal compliance and best practice throughout the applicable cluster.
  • Managing and investigating incidents that happen locally, while being able to perform more detailed investigations using Root Cause Analysis Tools such as Fishbone, 5Whys, etc.
  • Assisting in planning and conducting internal and external EHS audits across different sites and projects. Review audit findings, identify areas for improvement, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Support in the implementation and maintenance of local management systems according to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
  • Educated to diploma level in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent discipline, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing procedures for the management of health and safety in a professional services environment.
  • Professional certifications in EHS management / internal auditor qualifications will be an advantage (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Membership of recognised EHS trade associations / bodies.
  • Experience of working in a multi-site professional services environment preferable. Experience of cross-border delivery desirable.
  • The successful candidate will currently hold a health and safety advisory position within an organisation where effective stakeholder management and commercial awareness is critical.
  • A competent trainer capable of delivering in-house training courses on EHS topics.

  • Relationship and stakeholder management, influencing skills, commercial awareness and pragmatic problem-solving skills are essential requirements for this role.
  • Professional and proactive in approach and style, an excellent relationship builder, able to work in partnership and collaboration across the business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English are required.
  • Ability to effectively respond to complex enquiries, solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions, whilst considering the bigger picture and commercial factors, anticipating potential issues and future needs of the business.
  • Ability to identify and assess EHS risks and propose mitigation measures / controls.
  • Likes to work as part of a team but equally comfortable working alone, enjoys working with diverse and dynamic stakeholders and business units.
  • Excellent presentational skills and confident at delivering training and awareness sessions to a variety of different stakeholders of varying seniority.
  • Sensitive to the varying cultures and ways of operating between countries. Able to tailor solutions to suit national requirements and legislative frameworks.
  • Exceptional time management skills and an ability to work and deliver under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel across the EMEA region as required by business needs.
