Job summary

UNESCO seeks a Director of the Internal Oversight Division (IOS) to lead evaluation, internal audit and investigations with independence and objectivity. The role reports to the Director-General and drives risk-based planning, governance improvement, and safeguarding UNESCO's interests.

You will oversee an international team, uphold international standards and promote a culture of learning and improvement while delivering high-quality assurance services aligned with UNESCO's mission in Paris,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, with increasing levels of responsibility.
• At least seven years of international experience.
• Senior official experience in audit and/or evaluation within an international organization or public sector.
• Knowledge of current audit, evaluation, and investigation methods, standards and trends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee a risk-based annual work plan for internal oversight.
• Supervise a portfolio of internal audits focused on governance, risk management, and internal controls.
• Lead an investigation function for alleged fraud, misconduct, or mismanagement.
• Provide impartial advice to the Director-General and promote learning and improvement.
• Stay abreast of strategic and operational issues and integrate them into IOS activities.
