EUROPEAN DYNAMICS Group is seeking a Database Administrator to join the development team remotely within the EU. The role integrates with a major client’s IT team to oversee database installation, configuration, monitoring and security across multi-tier applications.

The candidate should have a university IT degree with extensive experience in database design, tuning, and disaster recovery, plus excellent English language skills.

Qualifications

• University IT degree with 10+ years IT experience.
• Minimum 6 years in modelling tools (e.g. UML).
• Minimum 5 years with RDBMS.
• Experience in database design and modelling (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MsSQL).
• Experience in Database Administration, Tuning, Management and Security.
• Excellent knowledge of application development environments.
• Experience in backup/restore strategies using full and log backups.
• Experience in high-availability and disaster recovery.
• Strong documentation skills and English proficiency.

We currently have a vacancy for a Database Administrator in English, to offer his/her services as an expert remotely (within EU). In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client's IT team.

Tasks

• Database installation, configuration and administration;
• Database monitoring and tuning;
• Application installation, configuration and management;
• Responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases; monitoring of application usage and performance;
• Access management;
• Coordination of database and application support

Requirements

• University degree in IT combined with relevant IT professional experience of at least 10 years;
• Minimum 6 years in modelling tools (e.g. UML);
• Minimum 5 years of experience with RDBMS;
• Experience in database design and model (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MsSQL);
• Experience in Database Administration, Tuning, Management and Security;
• Excellent knowledge of application development environments;
• Experience in database backup and restore strategy using full database backup/restore and transaction log backup/restore;
• Experience in active/active and active/passive clustering;
• Experience with high-availability strategies (includes log shipping, DB mirroring, replication and SRDF) and experience in Disaster Recovery tests;
• Experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, maintenance and auditing configuration;
• Good knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tiers Internet applications;
• Experience in writing technical documentation;
• Understanding of Active Directory in the context of database security and windows scripting is preferred;
• Certification in Postgres will be an asset;
• Excellent command of the English language.
