Job summary

General Motors is building a pipeline of Controls Engineers to support the design, integration, launch, production, and continuous improvement of advanced manufacturing systems. Opportunities span vehicle assembly, body, paint, powertrain, battery, casting, stamping, robotics, and plant-floor systems.

Design, develop, integrate, commission, and sustain automation controls using PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and industrial networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer, Automation or related discipline.
• Experience with industrial controls, automation, manufacturing equipment, or systems integration.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, controls architecture and technical documentation.
• Analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, planning, and project execution.
• Commitment to a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, commission, validate and sustain industrial controls and automation systems for manufacturing operations.
• Translate requirements into practical controls solutions for safety, quality, delivery, and production.
• Develop or review controls hardware and software designs (PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, safety systems, networks).
• Support equipment and process development from concept to production launch and steady-state support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and engineering disciplines.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
