The ESRF - The European Synchrotron is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer to define and drive the organisation's cybersecurity strategy while fostering a strong security culture across divisions. You will coordinate efforts across IT teams, governance bodies, and senior management without direct line management of staff.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field, 10–15 years IT experience with ≥3 years in cybersecurity, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
• 10–15 years IT experience with at least 3 years in cybersecurity.
• Proven ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and coordinate initiatives across departments.
• Strong leadership potential or experience in leading a small team.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsabilités

• Develop and improve cybersecurity policies, standards, and governance.
• Define cybersecurity roadmap, priorities, and strategic plans.
• Coordinate cybersecurity activities across ESRF divisions for a consistent posture.
• Maintain risk assessment processes and initiate audits as needed.
• Oversee security controls implementation and policy compliance.
• Monitor vulnerability alerts and coordinate remediation actions.
• Inform IT teams about threats and mitigation strategies.
• Design and coordinate cybersecurity awareness and training programmes.
• Define KPIs and report cybersecurity risks to senior management.
