The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France, seeks a Chief Information Security Officer to define and drive the cybersecurity strategy across the organisation. Lead strategic, cross-divisional initiatives and foster a strong security culture while guiding IT teams and stakeholders.

With 10–15 years IT experience and at least 3 years in cybersecurity, the candidate will shape governance, risk management, and incident response, ensuring compliance with GDPR and NIS2.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
• At least 10–15 years in Information Technology, including minimum 3 years in cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and coordinate cybersecurity initiatives.
• Proven leadership or strong potential to lead a small team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent English.
• Knowledge of governance/risk frameworks (ISO/IEC 2700X, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, EBIOS).
• Experience with Linux and Windows environments, networks, cloud security, and modern IT infra security practices.
• Familiarity with GDPR, NIS2, and cybersecurity compliance.

Responsabilités

• Develop, maintain, and improve cybersecurity policies, standards, and governance.
• Define the cybersecurity roadmap and oversee strategic action plans.
• Coordinate cybersecurity activities across ESRF divisions for a consistent security posture.
• Maintain risk assessment processes and initiate audits as needed.
• Oversee security controls implementation and ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor vulnerabilities, manage remediation actions, and report risks.
• Inform staff about threats and mitigation strategies.
• Design and coordinate cybersecurity awareness and training programs.
• Establish KPIs and regularly report cybersecurity performance to senior management.
