Job summary

CMA CGM is seeking a Cargo Safety Officer in France to oversee all CMA CGM Group cargo bookings and transportation, ensuring adherence to QSSE standards and regulatory requirements. You will mitigate risks and support continuous improvement across vessels, terminals, and depots.

The role involves coordinating with multiple teams, maintaining records, and contributing to emergency planning and safety training. A relevant maritime degree and 3–5 years in liner shipping or logistics are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Safety, or related field.
• 3–5 years in liner shipping or logistics with cargo safety experience.
• Experience handling dangerous goods and sensitive cargo.
• Knowledge of local and international marine cargo safety regulations; IMDG Code certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools to support QSSE initiatives.
• Strong communication, training, and influencing skills.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cargo handling operations comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and CMA CGM Group policies and procedures.
• Support cargo safety risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations across vessels, terminals, and depots, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and recommend improvements to strengthen cargo safety practices.
• Assist in developing emergency response plans and support crisis management for cargo-related incidents.
• Coordinate with frontline offices, the QSSE Marine Department, vessels, Customer Care, and Commercial teams on safety matters and specific cargo requests.
• Maintain safety and compliance records, and prepare performance reports highlighting KPIs and improvement opportunities.
• Support cargo safety training and organise annual seminars to enhance awareness across frontline offices, agencies, and key departments.
• Contribute to process improvements and digital transformation initiatives to strengthen the Group’s cargo safety culture and performance.
