IXO is seeking a Cantonese-English transcription specialist to turn Cantonese and English recordings into reliable written language data. You will listen, transcribe or correct, annotate and perform a final quality review of outputs.

Deliverables include corrected transcripts, labels and metadata. You will handle timestamps, flag ambiguities, and follow the approved conventions and schedules while keeping material confidential.

Qualifications

• Native-level Cantonese with professional transcription or annotation experience.
• Bilingual Cantonese and English exposure is particularly relevant.
• Familiarity with transcription tools is valuable.

Turn Cantonese and English recordings into reliable written language data. The work includes listening, transcript creation or correction, annotation and a final quality review of your output.

Responsibilities

• Capture the spoken content accurately under the assigned transcription convention.
• Compare drafts against the recording and repair missing, incorrect or inconsistent text.
• Review punctuation, formatting and language choices without changing the intended meaning.
• Produce timestamped output, handle regional accents and use both Traditional and Simplified Chinese input when needed.
• Flag unclear audio and unresolved ambiguities with a useful explanation.
• Apply updated guidance consistently and report recurring tool or workflow problems.

Language and working profile

The preferred profile combines native-level Cantonese with professional transcription, language review or annotation experience. Strong comprehension of spoken and written language, careful proofreading and familiarity with transcription tools are valuable. Prior AI work is helpful but is not required. Bring precise written and spoken communication, a willingness to resolve ambiguous cases, and the organization to manage several assignments. The aim is faithful language data, so an uncertainty flag is more useful than an unsupported guess. Experience working across Cantonese and English is particularly relevant to these bilingual recordings.

Deliverables and terms

Deliverables are corrected transcripts, required labels or metadata, and notes on cases needing review. IXO will specify conventions, formatting, review standards and schedule before work begins. Follow the approved handling process for assigned recordings and keep the material confidential.

Pay

Pay is $25 - $40/hr in USD. Work is remote.
