Village of Niles is seeking a full-time Bus Driver in the Public Works Department. Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, you will provide safe, courteous, and dependable transportation to Niles residents along assigned routes, in line with Village and PACE policies.

Daily duties include route inspections, defensive driving, passenger assistance, and accurate ridership records. You will operate on a Monday–Friday schedule with daytime hours and a starting salary in the posted range.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL Class C license with Passenger endorsement.
• Maintains a clean driving record for five years or more.
• Must possess a current DOT card and pass a DOT physical.
• Must complete Village training and route orientation.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds.
• Must have adequate vision and hearing to operate safely.

Bus Driver

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Join our team and become our new full-time Bus Driver in the Public Works Department. Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, this position provides safe, courteous, and dependable transportation to Niles residents along assigned bus routes, operating in accordance with Village and PACE policies and guidelines.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

• Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned bus, verifying cleanliness and reporting damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs.
• Applies defensive driving techniques continuously and observes all applicable federal, state, and Village safety regulations.
• Monitors passenger behavior throughout each route to minimize incidents and accidents.
• Greets and assists riders in a courteous and helpful manner, answering questions about routes and service.
• Tallies the number of passengers boarding the bus and records accurate ridership counts.
• Completes assigned routes safely and on schedule; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications For Success

• Holds a valid CDL Class C license with a Passenger endorsement.
• Maintains a Driver’s License Court Purposes abstract reflecting a driving record in good standing for five (5) years or more.
• Possesses a current DOT card and passes a DOT physical.
• Completes all Village training and route orientation requirements.
• Lifts up to 20 pounds at a time and frequently carries objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Demonstrates the visual and hearing acuity needed to operate safely around emergency vehicles and assist passengers in need of help.

$60,646 – $84,905

($29.16/hr. – $40.82/hr.)
