IXO Labs is seeking a Brazilian Portuguese transcription QA auditor to review audio transcripts against recordings, ensuring word-level timestamps and transcripts align accurately. You will provide pass/fail rationales and corrected alignments, guided by a detailed rubric and calibration stage.

Remote work is offered with careful adherence to language-background requirements. Deliverables include coded transcript audits and explanations.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native Brazilian Portuguese required.
• Strong English reading/writing for rulebook and explanations.
• Prior transcription, subtitling, localization, annotation or QA experience is valuable.

Your work at IXO

Audit Brazilian Portuguese speech data in two related workflows: checking whether a transcript matches the recording and checking whether word-level timestamps match the spoken boundaries. You will review existing annotations and explain each decision.

Responsibilities

• Compare human or AI speech with its transcript and apply every relevant error category.
• Assign a pass/fail result with a clear English explanation, presenting critical defects first.
• Check the beginning and end of each word segment against the audio.
• Correct timing, split or combine segments, insert missing words or remove empty segments where appropriate.
• Distinguish genuine acoustic uncertainty from an annotation error, applying the written rules consistently.

Requirements

• You need native or near-native command of Brazilian Portuguese. You must either have grown up in a region where that variety is dominant, or be fully fluent with at least five years of residence in such a region. Strong English reading and writing are required for the rulebook, error codes and explanations.
• You should hear fine sound differences, follow continuous word boundaries and apply detailed rubrics over repeated judgments. Prior transcription, subtitling, localization, annotation or QA is valuable. Linguistics, phonetics, waveform tools or earlier AI-evaluation work are helpful rather than mandatory.

Deliverables and terms

Outputs include coded transcript audits, pass/fail rationales and corrected alignment segments. A calibration stage precedes regular assignments. Work packages use a five-audit-hour scope; this describes the task workload, not a flat submission fee. IXO will agree the schedule and review criteria before work begins.

Pay is $30/hr in USD. Work is remote, subject to the language-background requirement above.
