Datadog in Paris seeks a Manager I, Applied AI - Distilled Models to lead a team of engineers and applied scientists shaping cost-efficient, secure AI capabilities. You will define technical direction, steer rapid experiments, and work with product managers and research teams to deliver impactful AI features.

This hybrid role blends research, engineering, and product impact, with coaching responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration to scale AI from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineers and applied scientists in fast-moving AI projects.
• Deep expertise in one or more AI areas: LLMs, RAG, NLP, or deep learning.
• Strong evaluation methodologies for AI systems, offline and online.

Responsabilités

• Lead and develop a team of engineers and applied scientists focusing on cost-efficient specialized models and AI security.
• Define technical direction and drive rapid, value-focused delivery from framing to adoption.
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI systems with high reliability and quality.
• Balance quality, latency, cost, and safety in shipping AI-powered products and define evaluation pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, research, and cross-functional teams to align on success criteria.
• Mentor engineers, support career growth, and contribute to hiring as the team scales.
