Nexeo Plastics is seeking an Application Development Engineer to position materials in development applications at OEMs and molders, building strong engineer relationships across Italy and beyond.

The role requires a polymer/engineering background, 2–3 years in engineering plastics, and the ability to travel roughly 3 days per week. Fluency in French and English is required; Salesforce.com experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree related to polymers, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering or related coursework.
• 2–3 years' experience in engineering plastics (PA, PBT, ABS, PC/ABS).
• Willingness to travel about 3 days per week within the country.
• Languages: French and English.

Responsabilités

• Grow sales at Nexeo customers (OEMs, molders) and coordinate with Sales/KAMs and suppliers.
• Promote and position materials at customers, including training and project acquisition.
• Provide feedback to suppliers on portfolio management and future product developments.
• Maintain and establish new customer relationships with emphasis on key accounts.
• Translate technology/growth opportunities to new geographies/customers.
• Drive applications for existing and new product portfolios.
• Visit customer sites independently and with the sales team when needed.
• Gather competitive intelligence on technologies and market trends.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

As an Application Development Engineer for our Plastics distribution business, you will be positioning materials in development applications at OEMs and molders and developing relationships with engineers, specifiers and suppliers based in Italy.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Growing sales at Nexeo customers (OEMs, Molders), aligned with Sales, Key-Account Managers, Suppliers, and Nexeo technical support staff.
• Promote and position materials at customers/prospects incl. training and project acquisition (incl. trade shows, conferences and preparation of sales tools).
• Feedback to suppliers about strategic input portfolio management and future product developments.
• Maintain existing and establish new customer relationships with emphasis on key accounts.
• Translate technology/growth opportunities to new geographies/customers.
• Drive specific applications for existing and new products portfolios.
• Visits to customers sites both independently and in coordination with the sales organization.
• Gather market competitive intelligence including new technologies and market trends.
• Other duties as assigned.

Primary Requirements:

• Bachelor degree related to polymers, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering … or related engineering coursework.
• Minimum of 2 - 3 years' experience in engineering plastics, like PA, PBT, ABS, PC/ABS.
• Ready to travel approx. 3 days a week within the country.
• Knowledge in Automotive or E&E is a plus.
• Required languages: French and English.
• Proven, relevant qualifications in the following areas: self-motivating, enthusiastic, pro-active and time management.
• Must be a team player and leader on assigned projects.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills along with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Work effectively and coordinate with counterparts across poles.
• Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
• Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus.
