The Opportunity

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced software professional who enjoys combining architecture, delivery leadership, mentoring, and engineering innovation.

You will work closely with cross-functional development teams, helping shape the future technical direction of a large-scale marketplace platform while championing modern development practices and AI-assisted engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture and technical decision-making across multiple products.
• Guide engineering teams in delivering scalable, secure and maintainable software solutions.
• Drive system modernisation, refactoring and technical debt reduction initiatives.
• Design and optimise relational database structures, queries and integrations.
• Improve development processes, engineering standards and delivery predictability.
• Own and evolve automated testing practices and quality assurance processes.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development tools and workflows.
• Mentor developers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Lead Developer, Technical Lead or equivalent position.
• Strong expertise in software architecture and backend system design.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases and performance optimisation.
• Excellent experience with:
