Zusammenfassung

Mapbox is hiring a Staff Engineer to design, develop, and operate substantial areas of our routing services. You will build scalable API and routing engine components, improve data storage and consumption, and drive internal tooling to streamline engineering workflows.

You will contribute to system reliability, on-call rotations, and collaboration with product, sales engineering, and management to steer future product directions.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in engineering web services in either Rust or Typescript (Node.js).
• Proficiency in building highly-available API services within container-based environments (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, AWS).
• Proficiency in implementing monitoring instrumentation, triaging incidents, resolving customer issues, and continuous product improvement.
• Knowledge of operating systems and distributed systems (fault-tolerance, consistency, service discovery).
• Proven ability to design long-term technical strategies balancing delivery with reducing systemic technical debt.

Aufgaben

• Design and implement scalable services for API and routing engine tiers, with deployment, resilience, and observability in mind.
• Design and improve services for data consumption and storage of routing data.
• Drive design, development, and testing of Mapbox tools.
• Shape internal tools and automations to ease engineering work.
• Develop services quality metrics and analytics.
• Run experiments to evaluate quality, reliability, and capacity of navigation products.
• Participate in end-to-end feature implementation, review code/designs, shepherd releases, and join on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with product owners, sales engineering, and management to guide future product direction.
