Job summary

ABB Oy, Marine & Ports division, is seeking a Service Engineer, Commissioning in Raisio or Helsinki to commission and maintain ABB Azipod electric propulsion units.

You will travel up to 150 days per year, perform installation supervision, testing, and service calls, and collaborate with customers and ABB teams to deliver reliable solutions.

This position reports to:

Manager, Field Service

Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Service Engineer, Commissioning at ABB Oy, Marine & Ports division in Raisio or Helsinki, you will be responsible for commissioning and maintaining ABB Azipod® electric propulsion units. You will execute service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality and satisfying customer service.

The position involves approximately 150 days of mostly international travel, as you will be providing practical assistance at customer sites. This position offers a valuable chance to support the development of ABB’s marine business and build your skills in our products and systems.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Commissioning and maintaining ABB Azipod® electric propulsion units
• Installation supervision, startup, testing and commissioning of the systems in cooperation with the customer
• Service and warranty calls on operating vessels
• Performing service tasks like installation and commissioning of equipment, identifying technical problems, making analysis through remote or on-site activity in different service categories (installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, replacements etc.)
• Consulting with and advising customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines
• Creating and maintaining good relationships with customers, appreciating their needs and providing specialist assistance and solutions
• Diagnosing simple equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
• Identifying opportunities to develop new service applications, equipment and methods

Qualifications For The Role

• B. Sc. degree education in electric power engineering, automation or any other suitable education. Ability to also handle mechanical service works
• Preferably practical work experience in commissioning relevant products and systems
• Ability to extensive global travelling, up to 150 days per year
• Experience in shipbuilding and knowledge of ABB products are advantages
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach
• Good Finnish and English skills as interaction with both the customer and the ABB team is an important part of this job. Other language skills are an advantage.
• Familiarity with MS Office software
• You work well both independently and as a part of a team. Interaction with both the customer and the ABB team is an important part of this job
