Job summary

Unity is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Web Platform team to own significant portions of the Unity Web runtime. You will work on making the browser runtime multi-threaded, trimming build sizes and enabling fast play, alongside engineers who shaped browser tech.

You will mentor peers and help raise code quality across the team. You’ll tackle deep, performance-sensitive challenges across C++, C#, and JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Hands-on proficiency with C++ in performance-sensitive code.
• Experience with WebAssembly, Emscripten and/or LLVM.
• Ability to decompose complex technical problems and work autonomously.
• Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing across native and browser boundary.
• Working knowledge of C# and JavaScript.
• Effective written and verbal communication with cross-team peers.
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers to raise code quality.

Responsibilities

• Own meaningful areas of the Unity Web runtime from design through release.
• Research, design and implement optimizations to the Web build target and progressively load assets.
• Improve download size, load and startup performance for Web builds with measurable targets.
• Solve low-level problems across C++, C# and JavaScript, incl. multi-threading where needed.
• Partner with cross-team Web platform engineers to translate needs into platform work.
• Mentor teammates and help set the bar for code quality across the team.
• Keep Unity at the frontier of evolving Web capabilities.
