Job summary

Smartly is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Reporting Platform in Helsinki. You will join the Bobby Tables team, building back-end services that ingest, process, and serve billions of data points for real-time performance reporting.

You will own architecture decisions and mentor peers while delivering scalable analytics across advertising data. You will design the reporting engine, handle performance challenges, and integrate new channels into a cohesive platform using Ruby,

Qualifications

Experience designing and operating large-scale, highly available backend systems.
Strong database fundamentals with relational and analytical workloads.
Experience with asynchronous processing or event-driven architectures (Kafka).
Attention to abstractions, interfaces, testing, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

Design and build the reporting engine enabling flexible analytical views across advertising data.
Tackle backend engineering challenges around performance, reliability, and large-scale workloads.
Design clean interfaces to integrate new advertising channels into the platform.
Own technical decisions and drive software from design through production across the backend stack (Ruby, TS, Kafka, PostgreSQL/Citus).
Improve architecture and engineering practices to keep systems maintainable and resilient as they scale.
Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction across the team.
