Job summary

Smartly is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Reporting Platform. You will design and build backend services powering performance analytics for major brands, owning technical decisions from design to production and driving scalable architecture.

You will work across the backend stack (Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL/Citus), mentor peers, and contribute to robust integrations with advertising platforms. This role supports a flexible hybrid workplace and global growth.

Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale backend systems with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Strong SQL and database performance understanding; experience with analytical workloads a plus.
• Experience designing event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the reporting engine for flexible analytical views across advertising data.
• Solve backend performance and reliability challenges at scale.
• Design interfaces to integrate new advertising channels into a cohesive platform.
• Own technical decisions from design to production across the backend stack (Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL/Citus).
• Improve architecture and engineering practices as the system grows.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction.
