Job summary

Smartly is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Reporting Platform team. You will design and implement the core insights engine, ingesting vast data and delivering reliable, real-time reporting for global brands.

You will own backend design and optimizations, work across Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, ClickHouse and PostgreSQL/Citus, and mentor teammates to raise engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale backend systems with reliability and performance in focus.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and analytical workloads.
• Experience with or interest in distributed processing and event-driven architectures.
• Ability to craft clean interfaces, testing, and maintainable abstractions.
• Hands-on ownership from design to production and mentoring peers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the reporting engine for flexible analytical views over advertising data.
• Address performance, reliability, and large-scale analytical workloads in backend systems.
• Create interfaces to integrate new advertising channels into the platform.
• Own architectural decisions and drive production deployment across the stack (Ruby, TS, Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL/Citus).
• Improve architecture and engineering practices for maintainability and resilience.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to technical direction, and raise the team's engineering bar.
