Job summary

Glaston is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Tampere to design, develop and maintain backend applications powering its glass tempering machines. You will work on core systems using .NET/.NET Framework and collaborate with QA, Product, Project Management and Technical Support to deliver robust software solutions.

The role requires strong C# and REST API experience, plus an eye for code quality and architecture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise applications.
• Strong proficiency in .NET and .NET Framework; solid C# and OOP fundamentals.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, REST APIs, databases and cloud/docker environments.
• Proficient in English and Finnish, written and verbal.

This is what your work is about

• Designing software solutions as part of Glaston's automation platform; developing and maintaining core backend applications using .NET and .NET Framework, ensuring code quality and performance

• Developing software according to product roadmaps for Glaston's glass tempering machines; ensuring software quality and integration with production environments that support Glaston's commitment to engineering excellence and customer satisfaction

• Leading code quality initiatives through reviews and standards; mentoring junior developers; ensuring adherence to best practices and design patterns

• Working closely with QA, Product and Project Management, and Technical Support teams; staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies including modern AI tools; proposing and implementing improvements to development processes and tooling

This is the background we are looking for

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise application development

• Strong proficiency in .NET and .NET Framework

• Solid understanding of C# and object-oriented design principles with experience using AI-assisted development tools and relational databases (SQL Server); experience in software architecture design; familiarity with REST APIs, web services, and asynchronous programming patterns and experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices

• Strong communication skills in both English and Finnish, both written and verbal

• MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation, or equivalent

• Willingness to travel occasionally for machine deliveries, technical alignment, and other business needs

It is a great bonus if you have

• Experience with industrial control systems and manufacturing environments

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies

• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native development. Understanding of virtualized production environments and containerization (e.g., Docker).

This position is based at our Glaston Tampere office, with regular on-site work expected while occasional remote work is supported to promote work-life balance and productivity.
