Job summary

Aiven, a global data platform company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Analytics to join the team building PostgreSQL services and a new managed analytics offering. You will turn open-source tech into scalable cloud services and work to bridge OLTP and OLAP workloads.

The role emphasizes automated processes, high-quality code, and mentorship. Ideal candidates have Python expertise, 5+ years in relevant databases, data engineering experience, and strong Linux knowledge, with English

Qualifications

• Excellent development skills in Python
• 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server or OracleDB
• Experience in data engineering, ETL pipelines and large-scale datasets
• Strong data modeling, schema design and query optimization
• Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies
• Advanced understanding of Linux OS
• Experience with automated testing
• Distributed systems knowledge
• Experience with performance improvements, bug fixes and security vulnerability resolution
• Fluency in English, verbal and written

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Analytics to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best open-source technologies into frustration-free cloud services. You'll be part of the team that is focused on developing the PostgreSQL services and building out our new managed analytics offering.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional transactional databases and analytical processing. Our philosophy is to automate everything and to avoid repetitive manual work in everything we do. Our own backend systems are mostly implemented in Python with bits of Java, Go and C.

What You'll Do:

• Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features.
• Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews.

Must Have:

• Excellent development skills in Python

• Good understanding of data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies
• Advanced understanding of Linux OS
