Zusammenfassung

Aiven is seeking a Software Engineer, Analytics to help turn open-source technologies into friction-free cloud analytics services. You will work on our cloud operations platform, focusing on PostgreSQL services and our new managed analytics offering.

You will collaborate with a global team to bridge transactional and analytical workloads, automate repetitive tasks, and improve scalability and reliability of PostgreSQL services across cloud environments.

Qualifikationen

• Proficient Python development skills.
• 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, or OracleDB.
• Experience in data engineering, including building ETL pipelines and large-scale datasets.
• Strong data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of backup solutions and backup strategies.
• Solid Linux OS knowledge.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Distributed systems experience.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

The Role:

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Analytics to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best open-source technologies into frustration-free cloud services. You'll be part of the team that is focused on developing the PostgreSQL services and building out our new managed analytics offering.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional transactional databases and analytical processing. Our philosophy is to automate everything and to avoid repetitive manual work in everything we do. Our own backend systems are mostly implemented in Python with bits of Java, Go and C.

What You'll Do:

• Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features.
• Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews.
• Optimize data storage and query performance for both OLTP (PostgreSQL) and OLAP workloads.
• Contribute to technical planning and backlog management.
• Help investigate and resolve customer issues.
• Mentor and empower other engineers.
• Automate processes to eliminate repetitive manual work.
• Develop and improve the scalability and reliability of PostgreSQL service.

Must Have:

• Excellent development skills in Python
• 3+ years of experience working with one of these databases - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, OracleDB
• Experience in data engineering, including building ETL pipelines and working with large-scale datasets.
• Good understanding of data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of backup solutions and backup strategies
• Good understanding of Linux OS
• Experience with automated testing
• Distributed systems knowledge
• Experience with performance improvements, bug fixes, and security vulnerability resolution
• Fluency in English, verbal and written.

Nice to Have:

• Good understanding of security (software, networking)
• Experience with OLAP technologies, columnar databases, stream processing or distributed computing engines.
• Experience in infrastructure as code
• Experience in cloud DBAAS production environments
• Experience in production software environments
