Job summary

Nordic Semiconductor in Finland seeks a high-impact SoC Design Lead to guide the architecture, integration and verification of next‑generation microcontrollers and wireless SoCs. You will own the design flow from spec to tape-out, manage schedules, risks and cross-functional interfaces with analog, software, physical design and product teams.

The role requires a strong leadership track record, deep RTL/SoC expertise, and hands-on experience delivering tape-outs.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, microelectronics or a related field.
  • Extensive and hands-on experience with digital or SoC design, including several SoCs taken to tape-out and production.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams or large design projects, with strong planning and delivery skills.
  • Strong command of RTL design (Verilog/SystemVerilog), SoC integration, clock and reset architecture, and low-power design methods.
  • Solid understanding of embedded processor subsystems, bus fabrics, memory systems and on-chip interfaces.
  • Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, DFT and physical design handoff, and with verification methodology.
  • Experience from silicon bring-up, debug and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and fluent English.
  • The ideal candidate combines technical depth with leadership, takes ownership of results, works well across disciplines, and has real enthusiasm for building SoCs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the SoC design team, including planning, task allocation, mentoring and performance follow-up.
  • Own SoC-level architecture and microarchitecture decisions together with the system architects, balancing performance, power, area, cost and time to market.
  • Drive the SoC design flow from specification and RTL through integration, synthesis, timing closure, DFT and sign-off.
  • Plan and track the SoC project schedule, deliverables and risks, and report status to stakeholders and management.
  • Define SoC integration and verification strategy with the verification team, including top-level, gate-level and low-power verification.
  • Coordinate the interfaces to analog, RF, memory and third-party IP, and to physical design, test and software teams.
  • Support silicon bring-up, debug and characterization, and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Improve design methodologies, flows, reuse and quality practices across the group.
  • Document design decisions, assumptions, results and risks for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
