Job summary

VTT in Espoo, Finland invites applications for a Principal/Senior Scientist in Corrosion and Electrochemistry to lead research in nuclear materials and challenging environments. You will guide projects, mentor researchers and shape future capabilities in corrosion monitoring, coatings and predictive methods.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a relevant field (materials science, electrochemistry, corrosion, chemistry or nuclear engineering).
• Strong expertise in corrosion, electrochemistry and materials degradation.
• Experience with experimental corrosion or electrochemical research; high-temperature water chemistry and nuclear environments are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct research on corrosion, electrochemistry and materials degradation in nuclear and demanding environments.
• Develop and apply experimental approaches for studying corrosion in high-temperature and water-chemistry environments.
• Take technical responsibility for research and customer projects, delivering large national and international programs.
• Build new research projects and funding proposals with colleagues, industry and academia.
• Develop customer relationships and identify opportunities for VTT's corrosion and electrochemistry expertise.
• Publish and disseminate high-quality results and represent VTT in scientific, industrial and international networks.
• Contribute to long-term research directions in corrosion and electrochemistry.
• Support and mentor researchers and share knowledge within the team.
