Job summary

VTT invites applications for Senior Scientist/Research Scientist to advance multi-scale computational frameworks for metallic materials. You will link microstructure evolution, crystal plasticity and damage mechanisms with experiments to support sustainable material design.

The role offers opportunities to lead work packages, contribute to funding applications, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in Espoo. Fluent English is required; Finnish is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in a relevant field such as Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Computational Science.
Experience in computational materials modelling and linking microstructure to macroscopic properties.
Strong programming skills and ability to build maintainable modelling workflows.

Responsibilities

Develop and apply multi-scale computational frameworks for metallic materials.
Integrate modelling with experimental data to validate and interpret material behaviour.
Collaborate with experimental teams and lead work packages or research topics.
Contribute to funding applications and project portfolio as appropriate.
