Aiven is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join our platform team. You will help transform open-source tech into cloud services, improving scalability and reliability of the Aiven cloud platform.

You will design and implement backend features, participate in architecture discussions, and mentor junior engineers. The role emphasizes production-grade code, security, and strong testing in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Excellent Python development skills and API design experience.
• Hands-on with cloud provider APIs (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with IaC and container orchestration tools.
• Strong Linux networking and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience with open-source data services and production operations.
• Focus on security and automated testing, with solid English communication.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate API design improvements and refactoring for platform functionality.
• Write high-quality Python code and monitor production features.
• Perform peer code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
• Participate in planning, architecture, and backlog management.
• Ensure strong unit and integration test coverage in backend systems.
