Job summary

The Viikki Proteomics Unit at the Helsinki Proteomics Center, a part of the University of Helsinki, seeks a Scientist/Senior Scientist to deliver core proteomics services and develop methods. The role emphasizes hands-on operation of high‑resolution LC‑MS/MS systems, collaboration with HPC staff, and supporting users in experimental design and data interpretation.

The position is based at Viikki Proteomics Unit, with an initial two-year term and a 6-month trial.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related life science discipline.
• 2+ years of research experience with proteomic or related technologies.
• Strong background in protein chemistry.
• Experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate high-resolution LC-MS/MS systems and prepare/validate samples.
• Develop methods and evaluate new MS workflows for HPC services.
• Maintain instrument and perform quality-control checks.
• Advise facility users on experimental design and data interpretation.
