Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer to strengthen our protection and control team in Vaasa or Helsinki, Finland.

You will lead the protection scope of substation automation projects, collaborate with project managers, SCADA engineers and customers, and, depending on project size, head a small engineer team. You will bring a bachelor’s in electrical or systems engineering and experience with substation protection and IEC61850, with familiarity to Relion/PCM600 or

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or systems engineering or related field.
Experience in substation control and protection systems and communication protocols like IEC61850.
Familiarity with Hitachi Energy protection and control IED portfolio (Relion) and PCM600; experience with E3.series is a plus.
Strong teamwork, safety, quality and efficiency mindset; ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop protection and control concepts for (sub-)transmission systems with the project core team and in close collaboration with the customer.
Lead hardware design of bay level cubicles within the substation.
Configure Protection and Control IEDs according to customer specification.
Perform factory testing and lead Factory Acceptance Test at the customer site in Vaasa.
Oversee site tests of the control and protection parts at customer sites.
Lead a small team of engineers across global centers.
