Job summary

Eaton in Vantaa, Finland is seeking an experienced HIL platform engineer to drive real-time simulation models for UPS, batteries, and power conversion. You will work on OPAL-RT-based simulations, optimize performance, and build test benches and interfaces to support development teams.

You will collaborate across firmware, hardware, and test teams, maintaining HIL architectures and expanding lab capabilities to enable reliable FW testing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with HIL systems and power electronics.
  • Experience with Python, Robot Framework, C/C++, MATLAB, and PLECS.
  • Ability to translate system and testing needs into clear technical requirements and specifications.
  • Cross-functional mindset across engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and maintain real-time simulation models using OPAL-RT platform.
  • Develop electrical system models for UPS, battery, power conversion, and grid-interaction.
  • Model IGBT, MOSFET, and other power semiconductor switching characteristics.
  • Optimize simulation performance, accuracy, and real-time execution.
  • Design, build, and maintain HIL setups, cabinets, and test benches.
  • Develop fixtures and peripherals to emulate field devices, sensors, networks, and power systems.
  • Integrate HIL systems with target controllers, lab equipment, and measurement instruments.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, communication, simulation, and integration issues.
  • Define and maintain common HIL architecture, standards, and reusable components.
  • Drive continuous improvement of HIL platforms and lab infrastructure.
