Job description – Santa Claus / Seasonal Freelance Performer

We are looking for authentic, warm-hearted and professional Santa Claus performers to join us for the winter season in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland.

This is not an ordinary job where you simply put on a costume and repeat the same performance all day. As a Santa, you will meet people from all over the world and become part of some of their most memorable moments.

Your main responsibility is to create genuine, warm and unforgettable encounters as Santa Claus. Depending on the assignment, your work may include private Santa visits, meetings with families and children, visits to hotels and accommodation properties, Christmas programmes and other Santa-related experiences in the Rovaniemi area.

No two encounters are exactly the same. You may meet excited children, shy children, adults who are experiencing Lapland for the first time, families celebrating a special occasion or guests who simply want to meet the real Santa from the Arctic Circle. Because of this, the ability to read different situations, listen to people and react naturally is an essential part of the work.

We are not looking for someone who simply performs a memorised script.

We are looking for people who understand that even a short meeting can become a lifelong memory.

Previous experience as Santa Claus, an actor, performer, tour guide, host or in customer service is beneficial, but the right personality, attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.

The work is highly international, and good spoken English is required. Other language skills are considered an advantage.

The work

The work is seasonal and assignments may vary in duration, location and content. Working hours are flexible and depend on bookings and customer demand. The busiest period is during the Christmas and winter season.

The work requires the ability to move independently between different assignments in the Rovaniemi area. A driving licence and access to transportation may therefore be an advantage, depending on the assignments.

You will receive guidance and support for the role, but we also expect you to take responsibility for your own professionalism and preparation.

Important: freelance and assignment-based work

This position is not a traditional employment relationship.

The selected Santa Claus performers work independently and invoice for the assignments they complete. The work can therefore be carried out, for example, as:

• a freelancer or self-employed person
• a light entrepreneur using an invoicing service
• through your own business

**Compensation is agreed in advance for each assignment. There is no fixed monthly salary, and earnings depend on the number and type of assignments completed.**
