Job summary

University of Turku invites applications for a permanent position of University Research Fellow in Environmental Remote Sensing and Geospatial Computing. The role spans research in DIWA Flagship and teaching in an international Master’s programme, with responsibilities across Turku and the University Consortium of Pori.

The successful candidate will lead research on digital waters, develop scalable methods for ecosystem analysis, and contribute to courses taught in English, fostering industry

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in geography, geoinformatics, remote sensing, environmental sciences, or related field.
• Proven ability to conduct high-quality research and publish in top journals.
• Experience in international collaboration and securing research funding.
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong teaching and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in environmental remote sensing, catchment processes, and geospatial analytics.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and manage research data and software with open science practices.
• Supervise Master’s and doctoral students and develop the DIWA Flagship research program.
• Teach environmental remote sensing in the Space Technology and Environmental Remote Sensing Master’s programme in English and contribute to curriculum development.
