Job summary

Fiskars Group seeks a Design Engineer to join its R&D team, responsible for taking mechanical designs from concept to production. You will work with industrial designers, product managers, and manufacturing partners to deliver manufacturable, durable, and sustainable consumer products for a global audience.

The role is based in Espoo or Billnäs and is full-time with hybrid work. Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree with 3+ years in product development and strong CAD/prototyping skills.

Qualifications

• MSc/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in product development with a strong focus on mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong problem-solving and ideation skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with prototyping tools and methods.
• Positive attitude and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop new consumer products from concept through production using 3D CAD modeling and prototyping.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and quality.
• Communicate with global suppliers and sourcing offices to meet technical and quality requirements.
• Participate in design validation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support cost optimization efforts by identifying opportunities and implementing changes to technical specifications.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to drive innovation.
• Integrate sustainability by using eco-friendly materials, improving durability, and optimizing designs to reduce environmental impact.
