Job summary

ABB Oy, Smart Power in Vaasa, invites applications for a Product Engineering Specialist to maintain switch products and support Quality, Production and Procurement. You will handle rapid modeling and prototyping to solve practical problems, and collaborate with R&D to introduce new products to the factory.

The role focuses on updating 3D models and drawings with Creo, validating tooling, and contributing to cross-functional problem-solving groups.

Qualifications

B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree from mechanical engineering or relevant field.
A few years’ experience in mechanical design work.
Good problem-solving capabilities and team working skills.
Good knowledge of CAD softwares (Creo or similar) and PLM systems (Windchill or similar).
Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge about plastic moulding technologies and sheet metal production technologies is beneficial.
Lean six sigma experience (e.g. yellow belt, green belt) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Updating 3D-models and 2D-drawings with Creo to meet product enhancement or optimization needs from different stakeholders.
Offering technical support for the Quality, Production, Customer support and Procurement teams.
Validating new part manufacturing tools (plastic injection moulds, steel stamping tools, etc.)
Participating in problem-solving groups and development initiatives.
Preparing and validating prototypes of switch product components.
Implementing engineering changes to production in collaboration with different stakeholders (e.g. Quality team and R&D teams.)
