Job summary

University of Oulu seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in snow and microclimate processes of cold-climate ecosystems for a 3-year fixed-term appointment within the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering unit. The aim is to study snow, hydrology, and microclimates across Arctic and alpine ecosystems using remote sensing, data science, and modelling.

You can apply under two complementary profiles (A: technical/modelling; B: interdisciplinary).

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field completed within the last 10 years.
• Strong numerical and programming skills for cold-climate research.
• Excellent written and spoken English; autonomous researcher.

Responsibilities

• Integrate remote sensing, climate reanalysis and microclimate data.
• Collaborate with ecologists, hydrologists and modellers.
• Publish high-quality research and contribute to open-source tools.
• Possibly perform field work in northern Finland and neighbouring regions.
• Supervise doctoral researchers and contribute to education.
