Personal assistance is a service in which the personal assistant acts as the hands and feet of the client, carrying out tasks the client would do themselves but cannot do alone due to disability or illness. The purpose is to help the client with everyday tasks at home and outside the home. Tasks are often ordinary everyday chores that we all do in our own lives. The assistant’s duties do not include tasks that require, for example, a nurse qualification, as anyone can act as an assistant.
We have found as the employer of many personal assistants that people with the right attitude towards helping others are best suited. The assistant should be reliable, positive, helpful, diligent and people-oriented. You do not need prior relevant work experience, as every new assistant is trained in a comprehensive onboarding at Aarre Akatemia before starting work. Experience or training in care can be beneficial for some clients.
