Job summary

Skylo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Espoo to drive NTN capabilities in our gNodeB stack. You will shape architectural decisions across 3GPP-aligned features and ensure performance under satellite-era timing and mobility constraints.

You will lead design work, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor engineers while contributing to a rapidly growing, global satellite-enabled telecom platform.

Qualifications

• Experience in LTE/5G NR protocol software development with at least 3 years in an Architect/Lead Developer role.
• Satellite domain: adapting terrestrial RAN software for satellite payloads or transparent/regenerative architectures.
• Experience with UE simulators and channel emulators configured for high-latency satellite profiles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or Electronic Engineering.
• Every role at Skylo uses AI tools daily to amplify output and expects adoption of new tools.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Lead end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of 5G NR L2/L3 protocol stacks and MAC-Schedulers for NTN environments.
• Requirement Analysis: Translate 3GPP Release 17/18+ NTN specs into actionable software requirements and roadmaps.
• Design & Development: Create HLDs and LLDs for gNodeB components, addressing large propagation delays and high Doppler shifts.
• Feature Prioritisation: Prioritize 3GPP features for integration into the RAN subsystem.
• Mentorship & Quality: Guide teams, conduct code reviews, ensure architectural integrity during maintenance and delivery.
