Job summary

Helsinki Shipyard is seeking a Power Generation and Auxiliary Piping Systems Responsible Designer to lead the Systems Responsible Designer role for diesel engines, cooling water systems, and exhaust systems throughout the ship design process. You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure high-quality, compliant solutions.

You will develop piping diagrams and system components, support equipment purchasing and testing, and provide specialist technical support to production teams, with hybrid

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or related engineering field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Several years of work experience.
  • Experience in ship machinery is highly valued; preferably in a shipyard.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Systems Responsible Designer for diesel engines, cooling water systems, exhaust gas systems, and related ship systems.
  • Take technical responsibility for assigned systems throughout the full ship design process.
  • Oversee cost-effective, regulatory-compliant, high-quality design solutions.
  • Develop system arrangements and piping diagrams during the basic design phase.
  • Design and develop system components and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support for equipment purchasing and supplier selection.
  • Prepare test programs and support testing and commissioning activities.
  • Provide specialist technical support to production teams.
  • Collaborate with other designers and production specialists to resolve design and integration challenges.
  • Communicate and coordinate with equipment suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in line organization and engineering process development activities.
