Job summary

ABB in Vaasa, Finland, is seeking a Lean Transformation Lead to drive the continuous improvement strategy and develop a culture of learning and operational excellence.

You will lead improvement initiatives across manufacturing, logistics, engineering and support, facilitate kaizen events, and coach leaders to achieve sustained gains in safety, quality, delivery and cost. The role offers a hybrid model with broad responsibilities and a clear path to impact.

Qualifications

  • B. Sc. or M.Sc. degree in engineering or related field.
  • Lean, operational excellence or continuous improvement experience.
  • 3–5 years in Lean or related roles with measurable results.
  • Fluency in Finnish and good English; Swedish a benefit.
  • Experience leading process improvements and coaching teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lean transformation projects across manufacturing, logistics, engineering and support.
  • Develop and execute the unit transformation roadmap aligned with priorities.
  • Facilitate kaizen events, workshops and training to build Lean capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and visual management routines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adoption and sustainability of improvements.

Your Role And Responsibilities

We are now looking for a new Lean Transformation Lead to join our team in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, you will drive deployment of the continuous improvement strategy across the local organizational unit. Your main responsibility will be to develop a culture of continuous learning, operational excellence, and Lean thinking through Lean, Toyota Production System (TPS), Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.

As a Lean Transformation Lead, you will also act as a catalyst for transformation by leading improvement initiatives, coaching teams, and supporting leaders in achieving sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, inventory, and customer satisfaction.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and facilitating Lean transformation projects across manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and support functions.
  • Supporting the development and execution of the unit transformation roadmap aligned with business priorities and operational targets.
  • Facilitating workshops, kaizen events, training sessions, and practical improvement activities to build Lean capabilities across the organization.
  • Developing and maintaining performance metrics, visual management routines, and follow‑up practices to monitor progress and sustain results.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure implementation, adoption, and long‑term sustainability of improvements.
Qualifications For The Role
  • B. Sc. or M.Sc. level degree in engineering, industrial management, production, logistics, business, or similar field
  • Other educational backgrounds may be considered when the candidate has relevant Lean, operational excellence, manufacturing, project leadership, or continuous improvement skills.
  • Solid (3-5 years) experience in Lean, operational excellence, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, production development, or continuous improvement roles
  • Experience leading process improvement projects and contributing to measurable business results
  • Fluency in Finnish and good English skills, both written and spoken. Swedish skills are considered a benefit.
  • Practical experience applying Lean tools and methods in industrial, operational, or cross‑functional environments
  • Experience in management, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and coaching is considered an advantage
  • Having a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean Practitioner, Lean Coach, TPS, or equivalent certification is considered an advantage
  • Project management, change management, Business Agility, or similar certification is beneficial
