Job summary

ABB's Vaasa facility seeks an Operative Quality Specialist to bridge production and quality, drive improvements, and train staff on quality standards. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, quality gates, and collaboration across engineering and production.

The position is fixed-term until November 2027 and requires daily on-site presence. Key responsibilities include leading quality circles, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with ABB QMS and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience in quality control/assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop test protocols and analyze quality data.
  • Knowledge of process capability, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and training skills; ability to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to evaluate issues from multiple stakeholder perspectives.
  • Fluency in Finnish and good English skills.

Process Quality Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

We are now looking for an Operative Quality Specialist to join our team at the IEC LV Motors factory in Vaasa. The main task for this role is to be an active and co-operative driver between production and other departments to ensure continuous quality development. The key target is to ensure high-quality performance of the final product. The role will also include training production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and safe handling of components while ensuring compliance with ABB’s Quality Management Systems and relevant safety and regulatory requirements.

Cooperation with production, engineering, and cross-functional teams is essential to drive a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. This will be, for example, collaborating with engineering on process improvements, new tooling validation, and introduction of new products.

This position is offered as a fixed-term contract until the end of November 2027.

The work model for this role is: . Note that the role requires everyday presence on location to ensure operational continuity and collaboration with the factory.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Owning and developing quality performance within the designated assembly line.
  • Organizing and driving weekly Quality Circle activities, following up improvement actions, and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Supporting daily production by leading the resolution of quality issues and non-conformances through structured problem solving and corrective actions.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving quality gates and quality control processes to prevent defects and improve quality.
Qualifications For The Role
  • BSc or MSc level degree from a relevant technical field
  • Experience in quality control, assurance, or continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to develop and execute test protocols andanalyze quality data
  • Knowledge of process capability, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies
  • Excellent communication and training skills; ability to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to evaluate issues from multiple stakeholder perspectives in a proactive, detail-oriented manner
  • Fluency in Finnish and good English skills, both written and spoken
