Job summary

Eaton in Vantaa, Finland, is seeking a Lead UPS Hardware Engineer to join its UPS R&D organization. You will own challenging electronics development tasks, contribute to new product development, and mentor other hardware engineers.

The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership in a globally connected team. Based in Eaton's Vantaa Campus with a hybrid working model, you will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with Finland and global hardware engineers to shape

Qualifications

• MSc in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• At least 8 years in electronics or electrical product development.
• Strong expertise in power electronics design.
• Experience with UPS products or similar power conversion technologies is beneficial.
• Solid understanding of hardware architecture, components, circuit design and thermal management.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and drive resolution.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent English language skills.

Lead UPS Hardware Engineer

Are you an experienced power electronics professional who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and helping others succeed? Join Eaton's growing UPS R&D organization in Vantaa and play a key role in developing the next generation of critical power solutions.

In this role, you will be a senior technical expert within Eaton's UPS product development organization. You will take ownership of challenging power electronics development tasks, contribute to new product development projects, and help solve the most demanding technical challenges across the organization.

This is not a traditional people management position. Instead, you will act as a trusted technical leader and mentor, supporting other hardware engineers through design reviews, problem solving, coaching, and sharing best practices. The role offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on engineering work with significant technical influence across projects and teams.

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and work closely with Eaton's hardware engineering community in Finland and globally.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hardware design activities for advanced UPS and power electronics products.
• Act as a subject matter expert in power electronics hardware architecture, component selection, circuit design, and hardware integration.
• Support new product development projects from concept phase through product launch.
• Perform technical analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and problem resolution for complex engineering challenges.
• Review and validate hardware designs and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers within the team.
• Contribute to technology development, innovation activities, and future product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and global teams across R&D and product organizations.

What we expect from you

• M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
