Job summary

Temet in Espoo, Finland is seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer to drive R&D success and support business strategy for blast, CBRNE, and ventilation solutions. The role covers the full development cycle from ideation through design, testing, and validation to ensure products meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.

You will lead CAD design using SolidWorks, perform FEM and basic calculations, and plan improvements.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Three to five years of hands-on product development or R&D experience.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with FEA and PDM.
• Understanding of DFM and GD&T.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; problem-solving oriented.
• Fluent English and good Finnish language skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development gate model projects.
• Analyze customer requirements and define product specifications.
• Design using CAD and PDM systems.
• Perform basic and FEM calculations to verify safety and functionality.
• Plan product improvements to maintain quality and cost competitiveness.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and marketing on launches.
• Ensure design for manufacturing and cost efficiency.
• Maintain records of design iterations and regulatory compliance.
